MEDICAL OUTREACH IN DELTA STATE, 2023
The Dr. Isioma Okobah Foundation, in collaboration with First Delta American Hospital carried out a full-scale free medical outreach at her center, the Dr. Isioma Okobah Community Health Center Ndobu Igbodo.
The activities of the programme include:
- Free lab tests and screening for diabetes and hypertension,
- Free consultation,
- Giving out free drugs,
- Health talk,
- Distribution of medicated eyeglasses, and
- Free eye screening.
The foundation’s attendance was over 200 people with different ailments, which included the elderly, middle-aged, and children. The beneficiaries thanked the founder, Dr. Isioma Okobah, for her benevolent acts and prayed for God’s blessings on her, the Foundation, and her household. Also, the ophthalmologist was on hand to attend to all eye problems. Free glasses were also given to those in need of them.
Medical professionals—doctors, nurses, lab scientists, pharmacists, ophthalmologists, etc.—worked in synergy to ensure that the residents and beneficiaries were given adequate treatment.
OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY, 2019
The wife of Delta State Governor and Founder of the 05 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa, inaugurated the First Delta-American Hospital in Asaba.
Dame Okowa in her address during the inauguration of the hospital in Asaba, the Delta State capital, called on well-meaning Nigerians to positively impact the lives of the people in their various human endeavours.
The Governor’s wife at the ceremony said the Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, which has an affiliation with the First Lithonia Medical Centre Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America, Dr Isioma Okobah, has done what is expected of every patriotic citizen of Nigerian.
The Governor’s Wife, Dame Edith Okowa said the establishment of the First Delta-American Hospital, in Asaba, Delta State with modern health facilities was in fulfilment of the state government’s drive to attract more investors to help develop all sectors of the state including the health sector.
While commending the Okobah family for responding to the clarion call, Dame Okowa stressed that God expected every privileged person in society to impact the lives of others in accordance with the measure by which they were blessed.
The Governor’s Wife particularly applauded the management of the hospital for the friendly disposition of staff with patients, even as she admonished medical personnel in both public and private hospitals across the state to be kind to patients and make good use of the encounter with them to render service to humanity.
Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye, assured that Okowa’s administration will continue to encourage well-spirited individuals to invest in the health sector to complement government efforts in providing quality medical services in the state.
The Health Commissioner paid glowing tributes to Dr. Isioma Okobah, who is the Chairman, Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, for her sustained commitment to good health care in the state.
For her part, the Chief Executive of the hospital, Dr. Isioma Okobah, and her husband, Dr. Christopher Onyemaechi Okobah, expressed gratitude to God for the privilege to render service to humanity in the past two decades.
They said the First Delta-American Hospital, established in 2019 in Asaba, was a testament to the sincere desire for quality and affordable health care in their fatherland, having hailed from Onicha Ugbo and Igbodo in Delta State.
The traditional ruler of Onicha Ugbo kingdom, Obi Victor Chukwumalieze and others who spoke lauded the public-spiritedness of the founder of the hospital and stressed the need for more similar gestures in line with the private-public partnership for the development of society.
